The Lorax
Apparently I could not take a picture of the movie when I went to watch it and got thrown out, nah just joking. I read a lot of the books that Dr. Seuss wrote but I never heard of "The Lorax." Maybe it was because I was still stuck on "The cat in the har." Whatever it was, I am glad that I was able to watch this movie this break and it finally gave me an excuse to go to the movies. The movie talked about standing up for what you believe in and this is exactly what we are trying to do with the Ho'ulu ia Kamehameha project in physics. The Lorax is a short stubby creature who is the voice of the trees and fights for what is right. "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it's not." A quote from Dr. Suess paints a picture of how we have to stand up for what we want and believe is right. I really enjoyed this movie because to me it represents me as a child being a movie about a creature trying to save trees and it being based on a Dr. Seuss movie. In today's world, we would just have boring documentaries about saving the earth's trees but in this animated movie, it talks about saving the earth's tree in a way that our minds will never forget. Maybe like the movie, our group's project will leave an ever lasting impression at Kamehameha, so that no one will forget what we did to improve our school, for what we believe in.

Rock on Bro
Today in class we played the musical game "RockBand" for our final competition of the week. The game had a singer, bass player, guitarist, and a drummer. We were each allowed to choose the song of our choice. The harder the song, the more points a group would be able to get, depending on how good they all do. Our group was not the first to go, so we were viewing how the other teams did on their songs and that is how we determined what song would be played and which person would be assigned to each instrument of the game. For our group, our singer was Joe because he is in concert glee and is a good singer. Our guitar player was Christian because he has played the game before and he said that he is good at playing the bass, so that is what he played. Our bass player was Mike because he has also played the game before and happens to be a great bass player. I was on the drums, because that is the easiest thing to do. Our group got 4th in todays challenge because as a whole, our group was not top notch, but we still rocked hard.

Looking forward to fixing Kamehameha's problems
As you can see from the picture above, our group including myself have to do a presentation at the end of the project that will act as our final exam. I, along with my group, are excited for this project. At first I was happy because we did not have to take a final exam because the presentation was our final exam and when I heard that this project was going to be the only thing going on in the fourth quarter I became even happier. However, when we had to think about things that bug us in school we found that it is not as easy as it sounds. We had some ideas but we knew from the beginning that it was not practical but overall we conceived a couple of ideas that sounded very practical to us. In the end of our group discussion, we came to a conclusion that we are ready to do whatever needs to be done to do the best that we can. Although this is the only project that we are dealing with during the fourth quarter, it is a hard project because of all the trials and tribulation we will have to endure.

Good start, bad ending
http://starkproducts.blogspot.com/2011/03/hooulu-ia-kamehameha.html
Today for physics we again created another
blog for our new project. Our project now is in groups of 4 this time and each
is competing to be the best. My group is Joe, Kaeo, and Christian. This project
is called Ho‘oulu iä Kamehameha, and the overall objective is to observe
something in our school that is a problem and think of a way to solve all the
solutions pertaining to that problem. For today’s activities though, the groups
competed in two difficult challenges that put our skills and knowledge to its
test. I think that these exercises were done to see our how good our group can
work together and to prepare us for what is about to come. The two challenges
was to use 6 meter sticks and see how far off the table we could extend them
without using anything. Our group had gotten 1.2m giving us 2 points and a four
way tie for first at the end of the first activity. The second, which was much
harder, was to use only 6 pieces of paper and use nothing to make the highest
tower. We unfortunately epically failed and received only 2 points. This giving
us a total of 4 points for the day and leaving us tied for fourth place. I hope
we can pick it back up and gain the lead again. These activities will take lots
of team work and cooperation among the whole group in order to achieve the
goal.
